FOR US SERVER

All our servers support (i.e. are capable of running) both PHP 5.2 and PHP 5.3 (with a few exceptions listed below). The default version is 5.2.x but you can follow the directions below to use PHP 5.3.x instead.

Before switching, be aware of backwards compatibility issues with scripts: Older PHP coding may not be compatible with newer versions of PHP.

Please keep in mind: Using PHP 5.3 will break any sites requiring Zend or ioncube that were encoded with PHP 5.2. We recommend you check with the application developers to see if they have a 5.3 version available.

 

How to Enable

Follow the directions below for the hosting plan you have.

We currently have 5.3.10 (or higher) installed on all servers. A handler for PHP 5.3 is added to our shared servers for those who wish to utilize it. In order to utilize this handler, you will need to add the following code to your .htaccess file:

You can edit your .htaccess file via FTP or through cPanel’s File Manager, whatever is more convenient for you.

 

FOR UK SERVER

By default, ADELINAhost supports PHP 5.2 on its cPanel hosting servers. In order to switch to PHP 5.3, you need to create a blank file named usealtphp (without any extension) and place it in the Home Directory (/home/<directory-name>) of your cPanel hosting package.

You may switch back to PHP 5.2 by simply deleting the usealtphp file.

What is Ubuntu

Ubuntu is a computer operating system based on the Debian Linux distribution and distributed as free and open source software, using its own desktop environment. It is named after the Southern African philosophy of ubuntu (“humanity towards others”). Another translation could be: “the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity”.

According to Canonical, the Ubuntu project is committed to the principles of free software development; people are encouraged to use free software, improve it, and distribute it.

What is Debian

The Debian Project is an association of individuals who have made common cause to create a free operating system. This operating system that we have created is called Debian.

An operating system is the set of basic programs and utilities that make your computer run. At the core of an operating system is the kernel. The kernel is the most fundamental program on the computer and does all the basic housekeeping and lets you start other programs.

Debian systems currently use the Linux kernel or the FreeBSD kernel. Linux is a piece of software started by Linus Torvalds and supported by thousands of programmers worldwide. FreeBSD is an operating system including a kernel and other software.

However, work is in progress to provide Debian for other kernels, primarily for the Hurd. The Hurd is a collection of servers that run on top of a microkernel (such as Mach) to implement different features. The Hurd is free software produced by the GNU project.

A large part of the basic tools that fill out the operating system come from the GNU project; hence the names: GNU/Linux, GNU/kFreeBSD and GNU/Hurd. These tools are also free.

Of course, the thing that people want is application software: programs to help them get what they want to do done, from editing documents to running a business to playing games to writing more software. Debian comes with over 29000 packages (precompiled software that is bundled up in a nice format for easy installation on your machine) — all of it free.

What is CentOS

1 Contractual Basis, Area of Application, Alteration of the Contractual Terms

1.1 All services provided by AdelinaHost, referred to in the following terms and conditions as AdelinaHost.com are solely subject to these terms of service.

1.2 AdelinaHost.com may change the terms of service at any time if the customer agrees to the changes. The customer explains that he agrees to such changes by not appealing against the changes within four weeks after beeing informed about the changes. AdelinaHost.com will inform the customer about the consequences of not appealing against the changes.

1.3 AdelinaHost.com does not accept the customer’s own terms of service if they differ from these terms of service in any way even if AdelinaHost.com knows the customer’s terms of services and does still continue to provide services to the customer.

1.4 These terms of service apply to all future agreements between AdelinaHost.com and the customer.

1.5 If the customers orders domain name registration he also agrees to the terms of service of the organizations that provide the top level domain name and the sub level domain name the customer has chosen.

1.6 AdelinaHost.com may assign their rights and obligations resulting from this contract to other individuals or organizations. In this case the customer has the right to terminate the contract without notice.

 

2. Obligations 

2.1 AdelinaHost.com guarantees 98% server uptime on a yearly average. This does not include downtimes that are out of the influence of AdelinaHost.com (for example: natural catastrophes or downtimes caused by third parties). AdelinaHost.com may restrict the access to the provided services if this is necessary for securtiy reasons or to prevent network damages and the loss of stored data

2.2 Every domain name can only be used with one hosting account.

2.3 The traffic included in each hosting package does consist of all traffic on all ports (email, ftp, http, upload etc.). One GB (gigabyte) of traffic is equal to 1000 MB (megabyte) of traffic. One MB (megabyte) of traffic is equal to 1000 KB (kilobyte) of traffic and one KB (kilobyte) of traffic is equal to 1000 bytes of traffic.

3. Domain names 

3.1 AdelinaHost.com does only serve as an agent between the customer and the organization providing the ordered domain name. AdelinaHost.com does not take over any responsibilities regarding the domain allocation process or legal issues regarding domain names.

3.2 The customer guarantees that the domain name does not violate the rights of any third party. The customer holds harmless AdelinaHost.com, their staff and operators and the Organizations that provide the domain names and any third parties that take part in the registration process from any damages caused by or claims resulting from the usage of a domain name that violates the rights of any third party.

3.3 The customer notifies AdelinaHost.com if he sells or loses his domain name to a third party. The customer does also notify AdelinaHost.com if he tries to buy the lost domain name back. The customer is obligated to answer questions asked by AdelinaHost.com regarding the process of buying back the domain name.

4. Contract and contract termination 

4.1 AdelinaHost.com can accept the customer’2 s order within 14 days from the time when the customer submits the order.

4.2 The contract is not signed before AdelinaHost.com explains so or begins to provide the services.

4.3 The contract recurs automatically for an indefinite period of time. The customer can terminate the contract at any time before it recurs without giving reasons. AdelinaHost.com can cancel the contract 14 days before it recurs without giving reasons. The minimum contract length is 3 months.

4.4 AdelinaHost.com has the right to stop renewing the domain name registration after the termination of the contract. At this point of time the customer loses all rights resulting from the registration of this domain name that he/she might still have.

4.5 If any third party asserts a claim against AdelinaHost.com because of a definite or possible violation of a right described under 8.2 of these terms of service AdelinaHost.com has the right to remove the customer’s account and domain name from their server(s) and will no longer be responsible for renewing the domain name.

4.6 Both AdelinaHost.com and the customer have the right to terminate the contract for important reasons. Examples for such reasons for AdelinaHost.com are:

-The customer has been in default of payment for more than 20 running days.
– The customer culpably violates his obligations from 8.1, 8.2, 9.1, 9.4, 9.8 of these terms of service.
– The customer does not change the content of his hosting account to meet the requirements of 9.5 of these terms and conditions after AdelinaHost.com has asked the customer to do so.
– The customer culpably violates the domain registration rules of AdelinaHost.com and the organizations providing the domain names.

4.7 The termination of the contract is to be done via email. 

4.8 If the customer’s domain name(s) is/are cancelled before the contract expires (for example because the domain name violates the rights of any third party) AdelinaHost.com is not obligated to compensate the customer with another domain name.

4.9 If AdelinaHost.com is not able to continue providing the customer with a certain sub level domain because of the regulations of the organization that provides domains under the according top level domain AdelinaHost.com has the right to terminate the contract up to 14 before it would recur.

5. Prices and payment 

5.1 AdelinaHost.com has the right to increase the rates once every quarter if the customer agrees to these changes. The customer agrees to the changes if he/she does not appeal against them within 4 weeks after beeing informed about them. AdelinaHost.com will inform the customer about such changes and about the consequences of not appealing against the changes.

5.2 The customer pays all services provided by AdelinaHost.com in advance. The term of payment depends on the hosting plan and payment term chosen by the customer and is never longer than 12 months.

5.3 The customer allows AdelinaHost.com to draw the payments from the customer’s credit card or Paypal account.

5.4 AdelinaHost.com has the right not to register, transfer or renew a domain name before receiving the payment for this domain name.

5.5 The customer can not reduce or omit payments for legal reasons unless AdelinaHost.com or a court agree that these reasons exist.

6. Right of Exemption 

6.1 If AdelinaHost.com violates the copyright or trademark rights of a third party and this causes the third party to have any claims agains the customer AdelinaHost.com will defend the customer against such claims and pay the customer`s legal costs only if the customer has informed AdelinaHost.com immediately in a written way and AdelinaHost.com does still have all the technical and legal options and rights to defend against these claims.

7. Liability 

7.1 AdelinaHost.com is only liable for any damages if AdelinaHost.com or their staff neglect essential contractual duties or if the damage(s) has/have been caused by gross negligence or willfully by AdelinaHost.com. If the damage has not been caused by gross negligence or willfully AdelinaHost.com is only liable for the damage that was predictable for AdelinaHost.com on entering into the contract.

8. Internet pages and their content 

8.1 The customer is obligated to mark the contents of his internet page as his own providing his full name and address. The customers holds AdelinaHost.com harmless from any claims resulting from the violation of this obligation.

8.2 The customer is liable for any claims resulting from the violation of and not allowed to host any content violating any third party’s s rights (i.e. copyright, trademark, privacy rights, personal rights etc.), laws of Germany or the USA and the code of morals that is caused by the content of his/her website, the content of his webspace, the domain name, his/her email addresses and banners and other images or documents. Especially the customer is obligated not to offer any pornographic content or commercial services that contain pornographic or erotic content (nudity, peep shows etc.). The customer is not allowed to submit his/her site to search engines or link directories or other pages if this violates the rights of any third party, the law or the code of morality. If the customer fails to abide by these rules the customer has to pay a contractual penalty of 5050.00 EUR (in words: fivethousand and fifty EUR) for each breach without referring to the principles of continued act.

8.3 The customer is not allowed to upload, host or share any mp3 files. 

8.4 AdelinaHost.com is not obligated to search the customer’s account for content mentioned under 8.2, 8.3 and 9.5 of these terms of service. As soon as AdelinaHost.com finds such content AdelinaHost.com has the right to suspend and/or terminate the customer’s account. AdelinaHost.com will inform the customer about the suspension immediately.

9. Obligations of the customer 

9.1 The customer explains that the information he has provided to AdelinaHost.com are correct and complete. The customer will inform AdelinaHost.com if the information he has provided have changed. If AdelinaHost.com asks the customer if the information is still up to date the customer is obligated to answer within 15 days after receiving the question. This regards especially:

-Name and address of the customer
– Name, address, e-mail address, phone and fax numbers of the technical contact of the domain name.
– Name, address, e-mail address, phone and fax numbers of the administrative contact of the domain name.
– If the customer provides his own nameservers: The IP addresses of the primary and secondary nameservers as well as the names of the nameservers.

9.2 The customer is obligated to retrieve emails sent to email accounts that are hosted with AdelinaHost.com regularly at least once every 4 weeks. AdelinaHost.com has the right to send emails back to the sender if the capacities that belong to the customer’s account have been exceeded.

9.3 The customer is obligated to keep the password(s) that belong to his account and email addresses secret and to inform AdelinaHost.com immediately if he recognizes that unauthorized third parties know the password(s). If third parties abuse the passwords to use the services of AdelinaHost.com the customer is obligated to compensate AdelinaHost.com for any usage and damage caused by the third parties. The customer is obligated to create full backups of his data on every day when he/she or his staff have done any changes to the data. A backup of the data stored on the servers of AdelinaHost.com must not be stored on the AdelinaHost.com servers. The customer is also obligated to create a full backup of all data every time before AdelinaHost.com does work on the server that contains the customer’s account. The customer is responsible for making sure that the software he uses when working with AdelinaHost.com’s services or accounts is working properly. The customer knows that small changes to the software can cause serious problems and loss of data.

9.4 The customer and his staff are obligated not to send or ask third parties to send any emails that contain advertisements without the permission of the recipient. This regards especially mass sendings of commercial emails with equal or similar content (spamming). Commercial mass mailings may only be sent to subscribers who did request and confirm to be added to a mailing list. The customer has to store the IP address of the subscriber at the time of the subscription as well as the IP address of the subscriber at the time of the confirmation of the subscription. Additionally the customer has to store the time and date of the subscription and the time and date of the confirmation. The customer is also bound to the laws regarding the sending of emails of the country he belongs to, the European Union and of the United States of America. If the customer fails to abide by these rules AdelinaHost.com has the right to suspend the customer’s account immediately.

9.5 The customer is obligated to design the software and CGI scripts and any other content he stores on the server and the usage of these programs/content so that they do not consume a large amount of processing power and memory causing the server to be unstable. AdelinaHost.com has the right to prevent the customer and any other people from having access to such sites. AdelinaHost.com will inform the customer immediately about such action.

9.6 Additional transfer is sold to the customer considering the capacities of the data center and the interests of other customers for an additional fee.

9.7 The customer can limit the amount of additional traffic he wants to buy via email. In such cases no additional transfer is possible if the limit is reached.

9.8 The customer is not allowed to run any chat rooms, bots, daemons, IRC tools, cron services or proxy scripts on his website except for the chat rooms, bots, daemons and cron service provided by AdelinaHost.com. Rapidleech and wp-cron.php (WordPress Cron) are not allowed.

9.9 The customer is not allowed to use AdelinaHost.com’s services as a backup solution to store data that is not part of the customer’s web site.

10 Privacy

10.1 AdelinaHost.com does only use, collect and save personal information about the customer as far as it is required to make and deal with a contract and for billing purposes.

10.2 The customer knows that privacy for transfer of information on open networks like the internet can not be guaranteed at present for technical reasons. The customer knows that its technically possible for the provider to view contents on the customer’s webspace. Other parties might as well be technically able to view any information on the customer’s account by hacking or breacking into the system. It is the customers sole responsibility to secure the transfer and information transferred to and stored on his account.

11. Final regulations

11.1 If any part of these terms of service are invalid or get invalid this does not cuase the other parts of these terms of service to get invalid, too. Instead the invalid rule is to be replaced by a similar rule that the parties would have chosen if they had known that the rule is invalid and that would have caused an equal or similar result. This does also apply if parts of these terms of services are incomplete.

12.4 AdelinaHost allows a maximum of 25 simultaneous MySQL connections per cPanel on shared servers. This limit can be raised for VPS and dedicated servers.
The 25 simultaneous database connections should be sufficient. Most database connections open and close within a fraction of a second. A forum with 500 active members will rarely hit this 25 simultaneous connections.
The SQL server will timeout after 60 seconds of inactivity for Linux hosting. VPS and dedicated servers can have different limits.
12.5 Shared servers only allow 100,000 files per cPanel. This is a “Soft limit” meaning that while the limit is reached, you will still be able to upload files. However once the account passes the 100,000 file threshold it will no longer be included in our weekly backups. Additionally, if the account happens to exceed 250,000 files then it will be in violation of our Terms of Service and can result in possible suspension.
12.6 AdelinaHost allows a maximum of 25% CPU usage limit. You may exceed this limit for no longer than 90 seconds. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc.
12.7 Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD.
12.8 Run any type of web spider or indexer (including Google Cash / AdSpy) on shared servers.
12.9 Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network.
12.10 Run any bit torrent application, tracker, or client. You may link to legal torrents off-site, but may not host or store them on our shared servers.
12.11 Participate in any file-sharing/peer-to-peer activities
12.12 Run any gaming servers such as counter-strike, half-life, battlefield1942, etc
12.13 Run cron entries with intervals of less than 15 minutes.
12.14 Run any MySQL queries longer than 15 seconds. MySQL tables should be indexed appropriately.
12.15 When using PHP include functions for including a local file, include the local file rather than the URL. Instead of include(“http://yourdomain.com/include.php”) use include(“include.php”)
12.16 To help reduce usage, do not force html to handle server-side code (like php and shtml).
12.17 Only use https protocol when necessary; encrypting and decrypting communications is noticeably more CPU-intensive than unencrypted communications.

File Transfer to account

1. What is FTP?
FTP or file transfer protocol is a common way to transfer files to and from servers. It is also a common way to share accessed to files with others. Many web publishing applications use FTP to connect and upload to the web server. Most FTP clients are compatible with our service, including the following Filezilla, SmartFTP, CuteFTP, Fetch, Cyberduck, Dream weaver, and Publisher.

2. Changing your FTP password
To change the FTP password:
Go to your control panel.
Click the FTP manager icon.
Click the icon beside password to change the current password.

3. Connecting to a FTP client
Using a FTP client can be very simple to use, if you have the basics. This guide will focus on using Filezilla to transfer files. This information applies to most of the popular FTP software.
To connect to your FTP server:
After starting up your ftp client you should be given an area to enter your logon information.
Address: This is the domain name or IP address of the FTP server.
Port: 21 is the most commonly used port for FTP connections.
Username: A username is a required unless you are using anonymous FTP.
Password: A password is also required unless you are using anonymous FTP.

Once you enter your information you can click connect to initiate the connection process.
If the connection was successful you will have a list of the files and folders located in your website root directory.

4. How to navigate files
Navigating in Filezilla:
Navigating the files and folders in Filezilla is very similar to using the file manager on your home computer.
To change the current folder either on your machine or on the server, just select a tree item in the appropriate tree.

5. How to transfer files
Transferring Files into Filezilla:
You will see two views the local and the remote view.
Navigate the remote view to the location you would like to place the files you upload.
Navigate the local view to the location of the files you wish to upload.
You can upload or download a file by double-clicking on it. It will be added to the transfer queue and the transfer will start automatically. Alternatively you can also drag the files from one side and drop them on the other side.

In your welcome email, you will get a temporary link to access your new web site before anything goes live. You can view your site to make sure its working properly (graphics, web pages, links, etc…) by pointing your browser to the url provided in your setup email that contains your server ip and username. (for example: http://123.123.123.1/~USERNAME/ where 123.123.123.1 is replaced with the ip of your server).

In your setup email there will be a pair of DNS (Domain Name Servers) . Update your domain at your registrar (where you bought your domain) to use those Name Servers. If registrar doesn’t provide an interface to accomplish this please email your registrar or call them and tell them to change your name servers to those provided to you the setup email from us.

It will take 12-48 hours for dns updates to propagate throughout the world. Once your site is uploaded to ou servers you should update your dns (domain name servers) to the ones we provide you in the setup email listed here.

If after 48 hours you can not access your domain on our servers please do a whois query on your domain to ensure your name servers are set to those provided in the welcome email. If they have not been updated yet please contact your registar to get it corrected.

Once your domain has propagated to our network you can begin using your own domain name to access your website. You can now close your hosting account at your previous provider if you switched to us from another provider.

4. What is your minimum contract term ?
If you choose to pay monthly the minimum contract term is one month. If you choose to pay yearly the minimum contract term is one year.

5. How can I pay you ?
You can pay with or without a credit card, webmoney, z-payment, rbk money. Our prices are in US Dollar. If you are living outside the USA your payment will be converted from your currency to US Dollar automatically.

6. Do you have an uptime guarantee ?
Our network uptime is above 99.9%.

8. Will I own the domain names I register on your site ?
Yes, you own the domain name and you can move it to another server at any time. Please note that domains can not be transferred if they have already been transferred during the last 60 days or if they have expired.

11. How much additional bandwith can I purchase ?
Note: If your account includes unlimited bandwidth you don’t need to buy additional bandwidth.
